I have a whitebox (custom) computer with a liquid cooler for the CPU (evercool WC-202). I also have a 40MM fan on the north bridge. The core temp varies from 19-36C (idle to game) and the north bridge varies from 22-30C, the HDD holds around 40C. The GPU however holds about 60C (approaches 65 in Oblivion). I know it’s rated to 90C, but I want to standardize my idle/gaming temps. The GPU needs to hold 35-ish at the most. I would like to water cool off my standing loop as not to add more fans (I have 7 already). I have the GPU block that came with the WC-202, however I don’t want to use it alone as the Integrated RAMDACs need cooling as well. I also have a slot fan (80MM lateral exhaust) under the card. Any ideas? I think if I got some sinks for the RAMDACs and used the slot fan on those plus the GPU block for the evercool it would work, or do the RAMDACs get uber hot too? I also want to stay low cost on this.
Adding a water block to your video card seems to me to be overkill. If you were going to try to overclock it, I would say go ahead, but IMHO, you could look to a better video card instead. The temps you report are well into the low range, so you have done a good job, there.
I may be a bit off base here, but don’t the NV 8000 series run hot? I seem to recall that from somewhere. I also seem to recall that the 8000 series are prone to failure due to heat, too. I like the newer ATI cards but they run quite stably at those kind of temps. They don’t seem to go much hotter than 70C.

This is the absolute and definitive LAST time i reinstall xp and am reverted to my old,clunky system in a matter of hours.I’ve heard a lot about Linux,Red Hat,Ubuntu and so on but i’m not quite sure what would work for me.
Specs: I run a Compaq Pentium 3 at 1 Ghz with 390 Mb of Ram,and about 90 GB in 7 partitions.
What i need: A point and click interface.
Something to run most programs like Ymess,Winamp,Mozilla and a few games.
No need for additional coding,debugging,editing since i have no idea how text commands work.
It has to be FREE
Which would you reccomend and why?

Ubuntu is pretty neat, I just installed it on my other computer. The default browser is Firefox but to run some of the programs you say you’ll have to download a program called “Wine”, and since I was new to Ubuntu the installation process was a little confusing to me, but there’s lots of support to help you.

7 partitions? Wow, when you install your new OS you should get rid of those. You can partition the disk in half, so if you need to you can keep windows, but there’s no reason for 7 with your size HD.

Both drives will be at 500gb capacity. I found the Passport Elite 500gb for $100 and the Passport Essential SE for $85. I have the money to get either but I am not sure.
