is it ok to replace my 12V 7Ah UPS battery with a 12V 12Ah battery?
my UPS battery has already expired. It was rated 12V 7Ah. Will it be ok if i replaced it with a 12V 12Ah battery? Both batteries have the same dimensions. I figure that if i replace my original battery with one having better Ah , it would last a little bit longer.
That is true, it would last greater than 1/3 longer, good choice if the dimensions are the same.

What can cause the Power Supply fan to speed at times.?
My sister has a Dell Studio computer and recently her power supply fan as been speeding up at different times.
My own experience with Power Supplies is limited so any help will be appreciated.
i’d look to see if theres any dust or gunk acculmulated around the fans intake and exahust, or inside on the fan itself (do not open the power supply itself)
other then that, its rather normal for fans to change speeds these days, They are controlled by the system, back in the day it was only on/off for fans, But i guess its a fancy world these days

For computers you need a UPS first. A UPS will provide power with no cut-over downtime in case of an outage. A UPS will also compensate brownouts and otherwise guarantee clean power. A UPS alone will only provide power for a finite length of time based on battery capacity.
If you need it stay operational for longer periods into a blackout, you should have a generator to provide power to the UPS when the utilities are unable to. This way the UPS will keep things up during the generator start and cut-over, and then the generator can keep the UPS batteries charged. As long as you keep it fueled up, you’ll have power.
If you have an enormous system and tons of money, you could go with a hot-standby generator. The generator is left running and phase-locked to line power and can be cut-over without interuption.
I would get a UPS rated to run your systems for 10 minutes and place a generator in there to keep you going.
