my UPS battery has already expired. It was rated 12V 7Ah. Will it be ok if i replaced it with a 12V 12Ah battery? Both batteries have the same dimensions. I figure that if i replace my original battery with one having better Ah , it would last a little bit longer.
That is true, it would last greater than 1/3 longer, good choice if the dimensions are the same.

I bought a maintenance free sealed lead acid battery which had a crack near the positive terminal. As the time passed white powder like snow started to form near the crack. I know that during charging a lead acid battery the water molecules are split into hydrogen and oxygen (when overcharged or at the end of charge) and h2so4 remain in the battery. I want to now that what are those white powder like snow and what they are composed of?
